NGC 2237 / C 49 Rosette Nebula

The Rosette Nebula (also known as Caldwell 49) is a large, circular H II region located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The open cluster NGC 2244 (Caldwell 50) is closely associated with the nebulosity, the stars of the cluster having been formed from the nebula's matter.

La Nebulosa Rosetta (nota anche con le sigle di catalogo NGC 2237 e C 49) è un'ampia regione H II di forma circolare situata ai confini di una nebulosa molecolare gigante, nella costellazione dell'Unicorno. La nebulosa ha un diametro angolare di 1,3° e si trova a una distanza di 1600 parsec (circa 5200 anni luce)[2] dal sistema solare; ha una dimensione approssimativa di 100 anni luce.
